A warm welcome to all members and visitors, my name is Rick Hull, Club Captain for 2011 and the Lady Captain is Heather Lloyd, together we are looking forward to a successful 2011 season.
Developments on the course this year have been a new bridge on the first hole, donated and installed by Vice Captain Peter Towers. There has been a new social tee built on the 10th hole, with continued hard work on the course by Glenn Miller and his green staff throughout the year.
We wish both Ladies and Gentleman’s teams continued success and hope the men’s A Team can continue last year’s achievement of promotion, now in Division 3 Scratch League.
Both Heather and myself are supporting two charities this year which are LOROS and MYTON Hospices. These will benefit from both social and golf events taking place throughout the year.
There will also be different holes around the course requesting donations for birdies, sand traps and water hazards. Please donate to the “Jar on the Bar”

BEST WESTERN PLUS Ullesthorpe Court Hotel & Golf Club was the host venue for the highly successful inaugural LV= SOS Kit Aid Midlands Golf Day, organised by SOS East Midlands Regional Co Director Gary Welsh and supported by Dave Evrall (Golf Manager) and the wonderful staff at the hotel. Teams came from as far afield as Bath, Cardiff and one golfer even flew in from Dubai to attend.
19 teams played for a variety of prizes, and the winning team was "Teamlink" being led by MD Mark Gardner who won with 91 points. Undoubtedly the highlight of the day was a fun Q&A session with leading referees Wayne Barnes, Dave Pearson and Chris White, brilliantly hosted by Welsh and Lions legend John Taylor who had some great stories of his own. The referees were at their sparkling best with many humorous stories from on and off the field and the 80 players present thoroughly enjoyed the whole day, despite the inclement weather.
LV= SOS Kit Aid was particularly pleased to have twelve of the best referees present because it gave SOS a chance to thank all referees in England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales for their wonderful support of LV= SOS Kit Aid over the years. Also present were our wonderful LV= SOS celebrities- Welsh LV= SOS Kit Aid ambassador Graham Price MBE and fellow British Lion Tom Smith.
This will be the first of many Midlands Golf Day's at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ullesthorpe Court and it will return even bigger and better next year!
Ullesthorpe Golf Club host a number of Open events throughout the year most notably during the Anniversary Week this year being held October 3rd – 7th.
This week long festival includes Ladies, Seniors, Mixed and Gents Pairs and Individual events. Ullesthorpe will also be staging its inaugural Junior Open on Wednesday 17th August 2011.
