This last couple of months I have been locked away in a dark room at the Hotel making preparations for Christmas so haven’t had the time to even see what the world has been up to. Having said that, I did go to Iceland last week which was totally amazing and I highly recommended everyone going even though I shamed the British population with my bobble hat! Which I now LOVE. Whilst I was away I missed The Midlands Family Business Awards at the Great Hall University of Birmingham. We had been shortlisted in the category “Service Excellence”. After an extremely intense interview process with some of the biggest family businesses from the Midlands grilling us we got shortlisted from a group of thirty to a group of six of the best businesses offering the best service. I have to say, I didn’t have much hope as not only was this our first time, there was stiff competition in the category anyway we still needed to be represented at the awards so I sent Paul Burgess (Operations Director) and David Evrall (Golf Manager)

Guess what? We only went and got “highly commended” I couldn’t have been more surprised as I was watching my Twitter feed in Reykjavik and checking my Whatsapp from both David and Paul  -  yes I know I’m dedicated!!

I am absolutely honoured to be able to accept this award on behalf of so many great people who I have the pleasure to work with. It’s very rare in our industry you are gifted with praise and approval for the service we give so this was a moment to be savoured!

We’ve been shortlisted in the Leicestershire Tourism Awards 2016 in the category “great places to stay” – so cross fingers for next week, I’m attending this one, and let’s see if we can add another award in 2016 and prove why we believe we are one of Leicestershire’s premier venues.

Watch this space!

PS: Thought I would add a picture of my hat as I know you are all desperate to know what the fuss was about, and wanted to show off the beautiful view – jealous yet? :-)
